Taste & Talk: Growing Markets Summit & Local Food Showcase

Taste & Talk: Growing Markets Summit & Local Food Showcase brings together local food producers, grocers, food service professionals, and community partners to strengthen the regional food supply chain. Spend the day learning and the evening connecting over a locally sourced farm-to-fork meal.



The Growing Markets Summit offers a day of learning and collaboration for producers looking to expand into new markets. Educational sessions will cover wholesale preparedness, food hub models, marketing local foods to grocers, producer success stories, and collaborative strategies that support local businesses to thrive in the regional food system.

Summit Highlights:

  • Keynote speaker Rebecca Frimmer of Good Roots will present “Is Wholesale Right For Me? Pricing, Margins & Economics Behind the Opportunity.” Later in the day, she will lead a discussion, “Financial Foundations for Wholesale: Making the Numbers Work.” Local food producers and buyers will have a chance to engage in this and other roundtable conversations for peer learning. 
  • The summit will also feature a grocer panel, “Local on the Shelves: What Grocers Have Learned,” to share grocer experiences procuring local foods and the retail customer response.
  • A detailed summit schedule will be coming soon.

North Dakota Farmers Market and Growers Association will be holding their annual meeting following the summit from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM in Suite 201 (2nd floor).

The evening Local Food Showcase celebrates the region's agricultural community through an intentionally curated farm-to-fork dining experience. Featuring ingredients sourced from local farms and ranchers, the meal provides a unique opportunity to meet the producers, hear their stories, and build relationships that strengthen local food networks.

Local Food Showcase Highlights:

  • Connect with local growers, producers, buyers, and food system leaders through networking opportunities.
  • Participate in conversations and idea-sharing focused on expanding market opportunities, building partnerships, and growing regional food networks that support a stronger local food economy.
  • Enjoy a curated farm-to-fork dining experience featuring locally sourced ingredients and the stories behind the products and producers. Local ingredients will be from Beagle Hill Farm, Hilltop Farm, Legendary Greens, Dakota Angus, Cows and Co Creamery, and others.

Speaker Spotlight

Rebecca Frimmer is an entrepreneur and educator passionate about advancing organic and sustainable food businesses. With experience gained from running her first company at 18 and holding key roles in food and farm organizations, Rebecca joined Good Roots in 2014. She played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s reach to the West Coast and now serves as a partner and principal consultant, leading training and education initiatives. Rebecca holds an MBA from George Washington University and focuses on business planning, fractional CFO services, and farmer profitability programs. Based in Morro Bay, California, she enjoys surfing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

North Central Regional Grocery and Food Hub

The Rural Development Finance Corporation (RDFC), which is staffed by the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives (NDAREC) rural development center, has received a $12.6 million grant commitment from the Bush Foundation to lead a multi-year effort aimed at improving access to healthy, affordable food in rural North Dakota. Grant funds will be deployed over seven years. The investment will support planning, development and launch of a pilot regional grocery and local food hub to serve north central North Dakota. The approach is to reduce wholesale costs through cooperative purchasing and expand market access for local food producers.
